CQC Cleaning Standards: e-learning programme

By November 20, 2012August 29th, 2014No Comments

Onclick has been helping GP practices across Kent understand some of the Care Quality Commission (CQC) standards that they will need to comply with next year.

Onclick was commissioned by the Kent & Medway GP staff training team to design and write a clear and easy-to-follow online and interactive learning programme. The e-training package launched this month (November) and focuses on helping practice managers and clinical staff create a clean environment to meet the new high standards.

Di Tyas, of the Kent Local Medical Committee, said: “Practice managers in Kent and Medway identified the need for an accessible and flexible training course to help them fully understand the CQC standards before the registration deadline next year.

“We worked with Onclick to design an e-learning course that emphasises that cleaning is everybody’s responsibility. Whilst primarily targeted at the practice manager, the course will also be relevant to all members of the practice team.”

Kat Rose, Onclick project manager, added: “Onlick set up a focus group of practice managers and collaborated closely with the training team to develop an e-learning course that can be used as a continual resource for all staff.

“We designed a programme that is interactive and uses a combination of bespoke images, video, text, fun activities and quizzes to show staff how they can effectively implement a fully-compliant clean environment.”

GPs and staff in Kent can access the e-learning course through a dedicated, secure online learning zone, specially developed and hosted by Onclick for Kent & Medway GP staff training. The new course covers guidelines on creating a cleaning schedule, the role of the CQC, how and when cleaning should be undertaken, routine and managerial audits, waste disposal segregation and national colour coding system relating to cleaning equipment. Downloadable resources are also available and include information handouts and manuals, and posters for display in GP practices.

Employees undertaking the training will be assessed and receive a certificate on passing. All user activity is tracked and recorded for management reporting.

Other online courses designed by Onclick for the county’s GP training team include issues relating to flu, immunisation, equality and diversity, and anaphylaxis.
